FAQ: How long does a spray tan last?The reality is that the longevity of your spray tan is determined by multiple factors - most of which you have complete control over!! Here are our top tips for a long-lasting tan:

✨any shaving/waxing and your mani/pedi should be done the day before your tan appointment
✨shower and exfoliate well using an exfoliating mitt prior to your tan
✨no sweating or getting your tan wet while it's developing
✨avoid intense work-outs, sauna, hot tubs, very hot showers or steam rooms with a tan
✨moisturize at least twice daily and avoid exfoliation while you have your tan
✨steer clear of skincare products with mineral oils, alcohol or scent

With proper care, your tan should last about 7-10 days, sometimes up to two weeks! 🤍

WHAT IS THE HYPE ABOUT VIOLET, RED, GREEN BASED SOLUTIONS?
… Nothing!

It is a misleading marketing ploy used by some bottom feeder spray tan companies to persuade you to purchase more of their solutions that all do the same thing in the end.

Tanning solution in is ‘raw’ form , DHA, and is in fact a colourless product. DHA decides the final result.. It is called the mailliard reaction. DHA is the actual base to all tanning products as it is the active ingredient. DHA matches each individuals skin tone naturally as it develops. The client deciding the depth of color by when they decide to rinsie off the bronzer. We cannot pick your shade or color or match your skin tone. The DHA is in control of that.

The violet, red and green ‘bases’ are simply food colorings used in the color guide / bronzer that you see when it is first applied and for the client to see instant results. ( if you get itchy from your spraytan the chemicals in the heavy bronzers is most likely the culprit.

This bronzer is purely for that ‘instant’ tan and is also added to the clear tanning solution as a visual aid during application (to see if there has been any missed areas on the skin during application.)

This cosmetic bronzer is simply washed off the body upon showering, and has NO bearing on the final semi-permanent spray tan.

TIP: Solutions which may market themselves as ‘Green Based’ for example, will likely be imported solutions which have started the natural process of turning green due to the long transit time from overseas and poor storage. Green is the last food coloring to evaporate.

It is likely this marketing ploy was started to make this negative property (going green with old age) into a positive.

At City Chic we use professional premium DHA with no harsh chemicals added to our bronzer. Instead we use Natural Walnut extract .

So please… Don’t believe and fall for the Hype with regard to ‘bases it is a scientificly impossible scheme using harsh chemicals.

Ps- spraytan products are not organic . None of them.
